I have one question from the excellent list of reflections at the end. Multiple times you mention people having different perspectives, and the need to honor those differences. But it's not clear what is meant by "honoring". For example, how do you honor different desires for cleanliness in a group? Or different preferences when it comes to having a clear plan in advance? I get that sometimes you can just find a middle ground, but that's not always possible if the needs are diametrically opposed.

The challenge with the idea of honoring all viewpoints - when this isn't specified - is a tendency toward wishywashyness and people-pleasing. Perhaps this is where having an agreed upon and clarified set of shared values is key, guiding decision-making once all viewpoints have been heard.

These are not communes, these are privileged people renting houses together and sharing expenses. Please come off it.

This is what we call gatekeeping. And instead of deleting it, I’m going to show a post we made about it.

A bunch of people who had free access to a summer house, remote work jobs, and could afford to travel internationally during the pandemic have now co-opted the term "gate-keeping" so that they can continue to feel as if what they're doing is praxis. Okay. I think it's fine that people are experimenting and doing these things and documenting them. I just don't consider this radical praxis, in the spirit or ideologies of anarchism or any of the guiding frameworks that would provide deeper meaning to these experiments.

Radical praxis or anarchism is not the subject of this publication. We write and share case studies about creating better lifestyles through living close to friends and family.

And I'm pretty sure its meaningful to the people participating. I know it is to me.

Here's the intro to what this publication is about and why we write it:

Intentional communities take many forms, and it's frankly arrogant to act like only what YOU consider to be a community is valid. It's clear that your last statement is pure projection. I'll add that I'm an anarchist as well, but this isn't an anarchist publication and anarchism wasn't mentioned anywhere in the post so I have zero idea why you'd respond this way.
