Hi y'all, I think this is so cool! I wanted to ask how you found people for this house?
I was hoping you could elaborate on this bit:
"Kristen and I started hosting a dinner series for people interested in forming a coliving community. It started with friends and then expanded outward to people we didn’t know. We met roughly once a week for a couple months. Some people dropped, some remained, and a subset of the attendees went searching for a mansion to fit at least 10 people. The listings on Zillow and Craigslist were frustratingly unlivable, so we needed to get a bit more creative."
I'll take a look and see if I find answers elsewhere on your Substack too! This is so cool!
Hey Paul! I live in NYC and I'd love to do this there! I'm not entirely sure what neighborhood is good for a larger house (that's still affordable), but I know the Fractal community exists. I'm thinking I go to some of their events to learn from them. https://futureofliving.substack.com/p/slouching-towards-utopia-with-fractal
In terms of finding people, less of my existing friends are down than I thought - they really like having their own apartments and worry about cleanliness/chaos of coliving. I'll probably try to make some new friends this yr and try to find other folks that might be interested
In the meanwhile, I wanted to prioritize building relationships with some of my neighbors in my building and neighborhood (Williamsburg). That's pretty close to coliving already! I'm coming up with ideas to do that.
Also, I'm thinking of ways I can hang more with my existing roommates. Currently, it's super easy to just duck into my room and be on my screens rather than hang out. How can I be interruptable or do schedule things with my roommates?
These are a few things on my mind
Where are you looking and what are you planning right now?
Love the attention to detail and unique culture of this. Is there an average time people spend here? What are some things you wish you would have done more (or less) of to help everyone thrive more and be happy?

I would imagine they put up ads (co-living roommates wanted) and general WOM
That makes sense! And funny enough, 5 years later, this might be the year I try this. Thanks for bumping this comment :))
Haha nothing like a little nudge. Where about are you looking? I’m doing the same if you want to drop some links or thoughts :)
